A New Episode of Our Forum Special Series: “If I Knew Then …”
A Conversation with Paul Brown
Senior Director, Brand and Concept Development
Our guest Paul Brown needs no introduction. During his more than 20-year career, Paul managed concessions programs at Atlanta, O’Hare, Midway, and SeaTac. He served as airport director in Jackson, Mississippi, as well as working for concessionaires and brands. He’s now back on the concessionaire side. Paul clearly knows concessions from all sides. His message today: the improvements in communication and collaboration during the pandemic was laudatory. Unfortunately, Paul sees the pandemic spirit waning. But, he adds, it can’t. We have a new world now that requires more open dialogue between airports and concessionaires to solve problems together rather than retreating to our silos.
Our conversation was chock full of Paul’s thoughts about important challenges our industry faces. Beyond the usual concerns – labor, supplies, FOD on the tarmac – Paul talked about deeper concerns: communication, partnership, and, most important, a plan for the future.
